No modern society can allow itself to neglect the cultural and
artistic elements of its development.
The spectacular changes in our systems of communication and
the transformation of our planet into a global village have
rendered this dimension much more important, even critical,
as it enables us to measure the openness of a given society
and its capacity for dialogue with neighboring societies.
There
is no question that our Arab society, through its younger generations
hungry for knowledge and curious as to what other cultures think,
needs and awareness of its own cultural and artistic dimension.
Under our very eyes, a rhythm is taking shape, both grave and
indisputably original, the vocation of the Arab artist to truly
participate in the cotemporary movement of creation, in all
its diversity.
It is also the vocation of our collection to assert, with
other Arab institutions, our participation in the movement
towards an opening up of Arab plastic arts. This is so that,
through their diversity and their wealth, we develop our visual
relationship with our enviroment, to find increased comprehension
of our lives, so that the different sectors of our societies
can draw inspiration from this.
We
seek to encourage faith in the future through art, and the hope
of enriching our lives with more intense communication with
one another, that this communication should become a part of
us, which will enable us to better understand the necessity
for our society to grow without for a moment having to renounce
our cultural specifity.
The Kinda Foundation considers that there is no nobler way than
artistic expression to demonstrate one's contribution and moral
responsibility to a society whose dreams take shape with a singular
spiritual wealth, in the midst of a general evolution where
no excuses can be advanced for those who are not up to this
challenge and the responsibilities it implies.
